Introduction to Commentaries on Metamillennialism

During the last ten years of developing the message and method of Modern Idealism, insights into nearly every passage of scripture have come to light .  These insights are powerful enough redefine every aspect of biblical interpretation and Christian life.  It is my belief that Metamillennialism is the theology of the 21st century.

It has long been my intention to share these revelations of the new paradigm, but the opportunity has rarely arisen.  In 2008, I published commentaries on Matthew 10:23, Matthew 16:28Matthew 26:64, Hebrews 8:13, Hebrews 12:25-29, and Revelation 22:13.  A number of other passages were addressed in these works, and in time they will be organized into a full commentary on the Bible (if the Lord tarries for me).

The commentaries to be presented at this website are my first attempts to share metamillennialism in a format that is regimented, and is also as concise as possible.  There are a lot of points to cover in each passage, so the work here will seek to format commentary according to the salient points of the paradigm.  As greater clarity in the method of transmission is found I’ll return to reformat the early works and all those to come.

It is believed that the focal point of each passage in the Bible is victory over sin in the life of the recipient (whether originally from spoken words or presently from the written words).  Because the Holy Spirit is the author in both cases, the issue of audience relevance is settled to be to “him who readeth”.  In other words, the Bible was written to us, and is not just to be seen as for us.  This is a contentious issue with preterists, who incorrectly state that only the original recipients were the intended audience.  Keep in mind that Jesus prayed not only for those then present but also for those who would believe on Him through their word.

Therefore, in all commentaries presented the ultimate goal will be highlighting meaning in the life of the present recipient (you, the reader).  However, in an attempt to prove the doctrine of metamillennialism (which is the kingdom aspect of the idealist axis), I intend to close each piece with a confirmation of that view.  Metamillennialism will be presented as the “shell” of the overall hermeneutic.


The commentaries on will be formatted according to a three-fold structure:

1.  Relevance to the then-present circumstance (Prima facie): The object lessons of the Bible all revolve around ancient Israel.  Those preterists known as “Israel Only”, recognizing this, have modeled a system which limits this object of the lesson by presenting it as the subject of the lesson.  This is a violation of general hermeneutical principles in that symbols never symbolize themselves.  In every case, a symbol (the object) is given to reveal a greater reality (the subject).  Nevertheless, many doctrines familiar to Israel Only will be presented as a means of enlightening the greater subject.  Other preterists, who endorse the grammatical-historical method of interpretation, will likewise find many familiar doctrines presented in the first third of the commentaries for the same reason.  This section will refer typically to the first century generation, which was held up as the biblical object lesson par excellence.

2. Relevance to the eternal subject (De jure): The object lessons of the Bible are given to reveal to the hearer the nature of the eternal council of the Trinity.  Therefore, the second third will present the first third in the light of the everlasting law that applies to its correlating aspect of the Eternal Council.  Understanding the nature of that council is critical for understanding how the tropological method applies to all humanity.  Accordingly, a separate category will be devoted to that aspect as it applies to all creation.    This section will typically refer to the age “before” creation, which was where all determinations about the historical plan of redemption were consummated.

3. Relevance for the current recipients (De facto): The object lessons of the Bible are all ultimately intended to reach the recipient for instruction.  This means that the Holy Spirit is attempting to instruct the hearer of the Word on how to become a faithful doer of the Word.  This means that, for instance, we should see ancient Jerusalem as a picture of the innermost self of each member of humanity.

Utilizing the first third, we can see that rebellious Jerusalem was destroyed. This is not to say that Jerusalem was destroyed.  Rather, we see from the second third that Jerusalem was cleansed.  This is because the second third reveals that Jerusalem is only the object lesson bespeaking the everlasting Kingdom of Jesus Christ.  Only that fleshly aspect, which was not fit for the eternal age, was burned with fire.  And so, according to the final third we see that in our lives only that which is gold, silver, and precious stones will endure into the age – the world to come.  All wood, hay, and stubble will be burned as was material Jerusalem.  Keep in mind that in order to re-enter the Garden of Eden one must pass through the flaming sword.

Historical idealism will not be addressed much due to the fact that their interpretations are lukewarm and not worthy of consideration or correction for the most part.  If addressed at all, it will most likely be in the final third.  I’ll try to add a single line in each commentary in order to gently guide those readers into the full truth.


In an attempt to keep these commentaries as clean and concise as possible, certain key terminology will be rigorously enforced.  Terms and phrases which are mysterious to the reader will be defined with greater thoroughness on the Glossary of Terms page.

My goals with these commentaries are manifold.  Included are:

  1. Presentation of first century tensions
  2. Presentation of the eternal council which determined those tensions
  3. Presentation of a method for the reader to put those tensions to sabbath rest
  4. Presentation of Modern Idealism and its kingdom theology, called Metamillennialism

Though #4 is a major consideration, please always reckon #3 as my most personal and most urgent heart’s desire.  If the work is able to help the reader rest from tensions of strife relating to addiction, marital strife, and goals of personal success, then all is well.
